In 2001, the Federal Government set up the Federation Fellowship
scheme - at $1.125 million per recipient over five years, Australia's

researchers, in key positions to lead world-class research teams
in work that benefits Australia - economically, environmentally
and socially". Macquarie has already had extraordinary success,
with Professor Max Coltheart (2001) and Dr Simon Turner (2002) each
winning Fellowships.
