Fringe Benefits Tax

Macquarie University is liable to pay Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) for employees on various expenses including entertainment. An overview of FBT liability at Macquarie University is available from the Office of Financial Services.
FBT will apply to some University events due to entertainment fringe benefits - FBT in this category applies to entertainment provided to employees (and their personal associates) – usually in the form of food, drink or recreation. Examples include business lunches, cocktail parties and staff social functions.
