Macquarie on YouTube
Macquarie University has established its own YouTube channel - www.youtube.com/macquarieuniversity
The channel was launched with a video on studying at Macquarie where current students talk about their experience of studying and campus life. The link to the video was attached to an email that Vice-Chancellor Professor Steven Schwartz sent to prospective students who had nominated Macquarie University in their UAC preferences.
The video which runs for just under three minutes features a number of Macquarie students talking about academic life, sport, clubs and societies, overseas travel and technology on campus. This is what some of them had to say:
· 'You're definitely going to have more fun at Macquarie, you're going to have an awesome degree as well as make lots of friends, it's a friendly campus, I think everyone knows Macquarie to be the friendly campus.
· It's a really fun campus but a highly charged environment for learning.
· It's versatile that I can choose a lot of different subjects and it counts towards the degree.
· All I know is anywhere I sit on campus, Wally's Walk allows me to get online. Now the beauty of being online is it allows me to access all my work and means I can listen to lectures. I can do my work no matter where I am by opening up my laptop - sitting on the ground having drinks with friends.
· Another great thing they have to offer is their scholarships and partner universities overseas.
The Macquarie University YouTube channel also hosts videos showcasing some of Macquarie's academic stars. You can learn about studying physics, marine science, psychology, biology. linguistics, actuarial studies and human geography.
At the time of publication over 3100 people have viewed the video for prospective students.
