Macquarie University Open Day - Saturday 1 September 2007
Macquarie University's Open Day is an event not to be missed for those considering tertiary study.
Prospective students will have the opportunity to listen to lectures on popular undergraduate programs including: early childhood, media, law, chiropractic, speech and hearing sciences, engineering, marketing, accounting and finance.
University academics will also be on hand to provide one-on-one advice. Students will be able to get answers to questions on specific courses and subjects, about life on campus, how to apply, scholarships, accommodation, sport and career opportunities.
Open Day will also feature two information lectures designed specifically for parents of prospective university students. The lectures, which will be held in Macquarie Theatre at 10.30am and 2pm, will answer questions about the Universities Admission Index, the admission process, the transition from high school to university, the Macquarie Global Leadership Program and international exchange opportunities.
Apart from receiving information on undertaking study at Macquarie, Open Day also includes a range of entertainment and activities for visitors of all ages.
'Macquarie Express' trackless trains will be running between 10am and 3pm and are a great way to see the entire campus. Fun activities include face painting, pony and camel rides, free henna tattoos, an insect zoo, reptile talk and handling sessions, and the ever-popular Science for Kids tent. The department of Anthropology will host an Indian Dance Workshop led by renowned Indian classical dancer Kavitha Muthukrishnan at 11am, 12pm and 1pm outside the Library.
Open Day will be held on Saturday 1 September from 10am until 4pm. Parking is free on campus and free shuttle buses will run to and from Epping and Gordon stations to the University between 9.30am and 4pm.
