Macquarie University's first Parent Information Evening for 2007 will provide students and their families with information on degree programs and pathways into university as well as important advice on how to best manage the challenges and concerns of the HSC.
To be held on Wednesday 25 July from 6pm-8pm, the event is relevant for students currently in Year 12, however all high school students and parents are welcome.
The primary focus of the evening is to provide Year 12 students and their families with important information on how the University Admission Index (UAI) is calculated, how to best manage stress in the HSC as well as the transition from high school to university.
The three Parent Information Evenings scheduled for 2007 also aim to inform parents about important issues relating to university application and enrolment procedures.
Speakers for the evening include:
- Professor George Cooney (above) who is chair of the technical committee on scaling at the NSW Board of Studies (the organisation responsible for administering the UAI)
- Jonathan Gaston from the Macquarie University Anxiety Research Unit, and
- Deidre Anderson CEO of U@MQ, Macquarie University's student, sport and recreation body.
"Last year we held our first Parent Information Evening and it was booked out," says Manager Liaison Services, Jason Elias. "The success of the evening was due to the fact that information provided was pertinent for all students completing the HSC and looking to enrol at Macquarie or another NSW university."
As seats are limited, bookings are essential. Visit: www.futurestudent.mq.edu.au/experience or contact Katherine Johnston on (02) 9850 9446 or macquarieexperience@mq.edu.au
