Construction of Macquarie University's new on-campus accommodation, which has doubled the number of rooms available to students, has been completed six months ahead of schedule.

The additional 516 rooms built by specialist student housing provider, Campus Living Villages, means that almost 900 extra students can be accommodated at Macquarie each year.

Features of the village include bedrooms with ensuite and high-speed data port; fully equipped kitchens and residential support programs which enhance study skills; and recreational and social opportunities for students.

National Australia Bank (NAB) and researchers in the Cybercrime Research Laboratory at Macquarie University have recently joined forces to investigate ways of defeating the latest cybercrime - phishing. Phishing occurs when Internet users are tricked into revealing their online banking credentials to a fraudster.

Stephen McCombie, Manager of IT Security, Assessment and Response at NAB says: "Phishing is a major concern to our customers, and NAB is keen to work with Macquarie to develop strategic solutions to phishing and other cybercrimes".
