
According to a report published in The Sydney Morning Herald (21/2/07), Macquarie University has the highest first year student retention rate in Australia. Statistics collected for the Learning and Teaching Performance Fund reveal that Macquarie retains 86.43 per cent of students.
To meet the needs of industry, Macquarie University has developed a suite of engineering degrees to service the fast growing fields of telecommunications, computing and electronics. From 2008 study options will be available in computer engineering, electronics engineering, instrumentation and control engineering, photonics engineering, software engineering, wireless engineering and telecommunications engineering.

Climate change champion and Macquarie University academic Professor Tim Flannery was recently named 2007 Australian of the Year.
Prime Minister Howard said Flannery had helped millions of Australians better appreciate and understand the environment.
