Scheduling

In setting dates, times and formats for your event, consider the following issues:

  1. That your event does not overlap with another important University event or holidays that will affect attendance and parking
  2. That no similar event takes place in the week before or after yours
  3. Whether you need to firstly contact the Protocol Officer in the Marketing Unit because you want to have the Vice-Chancellor or Chancellor attend/host your event
  4. The availability of guest speakers and University executive officers (ie Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Deans etc)
  5. Whether budgetary implications will affect when you can hold your event – out-of-hours building hire/security costs, staff overtime etc.
  6. The availability of the venue that you want
  7. That most speakers run over time.
