When you start to organise your event in detail it is suggested that you use the Event Management Checklists, which outline the things you need to do before, during and after your event.
Ensure that you have contingency plans where required. For example, consider allocating a standby speaker and/or MC if the designated ones pull out at the last moment due to unforeseen circumstances.
Finally, ensure that all relevant people have your contact details (mobile number preferably), so that they can inform you if they have unexpected delays just prior to event time.
