The main University security office is located in Building C1A on Macquarie Drive. University security is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is responsible for the coordination of a range of services including lost property, parking, and access control to buildings.
If there is an accident or medical emergency at your event, where an ambulance or urgent medical assistance is needed, your first point of contact is the Security Office and the following procedures should be followed:
1. Contact Security on the 24 hour University emergency number: 9999
2. If you cannot reach 9999, dial 0 for an external line, then 000
3. If you are calling from a mobile phone, dial 112
Familiarise yourself with the University guidelines on What to do in an emergency so that you are prepared prior to your event.
If you have VIPs attending your event it is a requirement that security is made aware of this. Security may require details such as car specifics (colour, make, registration number), estimated arrival time etc. Additionally, the Security Office is required to contact the Federal Police if VIPs of certain status are on campus.
When VIPs are expected it may be possible to arrange with the Security Office for specific car parking areas to be allocated for them.

Advise Security if large numbers of people are expected for your event, as they may be able to provide you with assistance and directions to best parking areas for your venue. Contact the Events Officers at events@mq.edu.au to book A-frames for signage to appropriate parking areas for your guests.
The University operates a Restricted Parking Area Scheme. It is possible to purchase ‘scratchie’ parking permits for your guests for $5 each from the Cashiers Office in the Lincoln Building. Under certain circumstances it is possible for the University to waive parking fees on campus for the duration of an event (eg Open Day, Graduation).
