Advertising can draw on a number of different mediums including television, press, the internet, and radio.
Advertising is an essential component of Macquarie University’s corporate image and all University advertising is managed by the Marketing Unit. The Unit can provide advice, recommendations and quotes on all forms of advertising. All advertising needs to follow the Macquarie University Visual Identity Guide and the use of the Macquarie logo on any published advertising material needs to be checked first with the Unit.
Some types of advertising need to be booked well in advance so you should ensure you make contact in the event planning stages to discuss your options and check booking deadlines for your preferred medium. A minimum lead time of seven working days is required but some publications require much longer. It is therefore best to make initial enquiries up to four weeks prior to the date of publishing.
Print advertising is a very crowded medium and a substantial amount of money is required to make an impact. Advertising in special-interest publications and direct marketing may be more cost-effective for promoting your event. For events specifically targeting the local community and/or students consider advertising in local papers and The Word (SAM publication).
